The Method of Continuous Variation has been used for a variety of applications ranging from determining the stoichiometry of a complex to acquiring kinetic information about a reaction. This method involves substituting one species A for another species B while keeping the total concentration of A + B constant. A Job Plot depicts a physical property as a function of the mole fraction of one of the species. Described are a sampling of the applications, a brief foray into the mathematical components, and the limitations of this powerful method.
