A series of new metal-based heteroleptic and homoleptic complexes of chiral phenolate ligands with tunable steric demands have been synthesized as potential catalyst precursors for the polymerization of cyclic esters with stereochemical control. These chiral phenolate ligands were synthesized in high yields viaMannich-type condensation reactions. The synthesized chiral metal-based complexes also offer potential applications in asymmetric catalysis involving organic functional group transformation.
