The IR absorption and the NMR 1H chemical shift will both vary with the amount of hydrogen bonding in a solution system. Prior measurements with these two methods have yielded very different estimates of the proportion of hydrogen bonding sites that are occupied.  A series of solutions, with varying concentration and composition, have been measured by both methods, and the results have been compared to understand the difference.
