Co/SBA-16 catalysts were prepared using impregnation method. The catalyst deactivation at high CO conversion and water addition were investigated in a fixed-bed reactor and continuously stirred tank reactor respectively. Co/SBA-16 catalysts exhibited high activity due to the high dispersion of cobalt species and good stability, because of the low mobility of cobalt particles in SBA-16 cages. Compared with SiO2, SBA-16 support prevents efficiently the aggregation and sintering of Co nanoparticles. The introduction of aluminum into the framework of SBA-16 increases the surface acid of the materials. The acidity of Al-SBA-16 support plays a critical role in controlling the product selectivity. The C5�C12 selectivity decreased with increasing Si/Al ratio.
