Reactions of cyclic azolate trimers of Cu(I) and Ag(I) with bridging ligands have been studied. Because prior work suggested the breakdown of a such cyclotrimers into dimers upon reaction with pyridine-type imine ligands, reaction with �back-to-back� diimine linearly-bridging ligands is expected to attain dimer-of-dimer or  coordination polymers, depending on stoichiometry and reaction conditions. The crystal structures and electrochemical and photophysical properties of the resulting products from the reactions and the extent of metal centers' communication will be overviewed in the presentation.
