Bacteroides species are among the most abundant gram-negative bacteria of the human gut microbiota.  These species decorate their cell surface glycoconjugates with fucosylated glycans, which are believed to play important roles in host intestinal colonization.  Currently, there is no reliable method for the enrichment of bacteroides glycoproteins for their identification.  In this talk, a click-chemistry based approach directed toward labeling and detecting fucosylated glycoproteins from cultured bacteroides will be discussed.  Recent progresses in new probe design will also be discussed.
