This work presents a study on the visible light-driven photo-assistedhydrogen generation using a pyrochlore-type photocatalyst (A2B2O7).It includes an additional earth abundant element for boosting photoactivity. Wehave employed a wet chemical approach for the synthesis of the pyrochlorephotocatalyst.  The characterization ofthe material using surface and optical techniques indicate that Fe can be successfullyincorporated into Bi2Ti2O7 (BTO) with varyingconcentrations. It will be shown that compared with plain BTO, the hydrogen yieldis improved by 175% with 1% Fe.
