The rational design of molecule-based systems displaying tunable optical and/or magnetic properties under external stimuli has received a great deal of attention recently. This interest is driven by the potential applications in the high-performance molecule-based electronic devices in the area of recording media, switches, sensors, and displays. As an example, Fe/Co Prussian blue compounds notably demonstrate the concomitant change in magnetic and optical properties by thermally and light induced metal to metal electron transfer [1]. The foregoing remarkable properties in Prussian blues prompted many researchers to design soluble molecular fragments of them through building-block approach and finally to mimic their properties [2]. In this regard, we have prepared novel molecular complexes containing {Fe(�-CN)Co} motifs with judicious choice of the ligands for iron and cobalt precursors. The successfully obtained complexes are a �part� of the Prussian blue analogs, and exhibit thermally and light induced intramolecular electron transfer as proven by structures, spectroscopic properties, and magnetic behaviors both in solid state and in solution.
