CounterCurrent chromatography (CCC) was used to isolate four active components from fruit extract.  The separation process utilized a solvent system of t-butyl-methyl ether, n-butanol, acetonitrile and water with pH adjusted by addition of trifluoroacetic acid.  By taking the advantage of the liquid nature of the stationary phase in CCC and using the elution-extrusion procedure we avoided any irreversible adsorption of solutes in the column and increased process throughput. Post chromatographic processing for the collected fractions involved extraction with aqueous hydrochloric acid followed by lyophilization.  Additionally GC analysis of the biphasic solvent system provided volume ratios for individual solvents to allow independent preparation of stationary and mobile phases.
