Metal-catalyzed enatioselective [3+2] couplings between aromatic ketimine derivatives and alkynes will be discussed. Significant ligand and solvent effects on chemoselectivity have been observed, which lead to highly selective synthesis of indene-based tertiary carbinamines. In addition, metal catalyzed C-N bond formation with N-H ketimines have been explored and led to the development of new catalytic hydroamination and aza-Michael reactions with N-H ketimines as N-nucleophiles. Preliminary results on reaction mechanism studies by stoichiometric transformations for further improvement of catalyst will be presented.
