Molecular structure and order at organic-organic and organic-inorganic interfaces should have a profound influence on the efficiency of charge transport across and along those boundaries.  Yet, the low dimensionality of these regions make them challenging to characterize.  In this talk, I will describe some of the efforts from our lab that have used nonlinear spectroscopic approaches to extract structural information from electronic interfaces that have relevance for energy conversion in solar assemblies.  Sum frequency generation spectroscopy combined with electrical stimulation is highlighted as an approach that can provide new and important insight into the function of the interface in charge separation and transport.
