Encapsulation techniques are widely practiced in the food, pharma, agrochemical and chemical products industries. There are multiple processes used to encapsulate materials including polymer coacervation, interfacial polymerization, spray drying and fluidized bed coating techniques. The particles produced may have well defined core shell structure or a matrix or composite morphology. The particles produced range from nano scale to millimeter in size depending on the process used. Release of the �active� from the capsule may be due to simple diffusion or due to a physical or chemical trigger such as pressure, temperature, pH change etc. In this talk we will review some of the techniques used for encapsulation, what industries they impact and challenges and future opportunities for encapsulation technology.
