Fullerene[C60] is considered powerful building block for synthesis of compounds to be used in material science and medicinal chemistry. More emphasis is given on the synthesis of C60 derivatives where C60 is covalently linked to photo emissive molecules. On photo excitation of these compounds, the photo emissive moiety relaxes to ground state by intramolecular energy transfer to C60. This phenomenon makes such a compound to be useful in the photovoltaic cells, molecular electronic devices and photodyanamic sensitizing treatments.We have synthesized novel 2-(phenyl methoxymaleimido) ethyl methylpropanediote (1  ) with high fluorescence quantum yield, which was further covalently linked to C60 by Bingel's cyclopropanation reaction to give dyad 2  (scheme 1). Optical absorption and emission studies of synthesized 1  and 2  were done in chloroform as a solvent at 5 ppm concentration. Observation of fluorescence spectra in figure1 clearly proves the photo induced intramolecular energy transfer from maleimide moiety to C60 core in 2a  and 2b  , as the emission from maleimide moiety is quenched in 2a  and 2b  and fluorescence signal at ? 800 due to C60is enhanced
