Recently, hydrothermal technology has received more attention for the treatment of organic wastes and biomass conversion because of the unique inherent properties of high temperature water that include a high ion product and a low dielectric constant, which are favorable for promoting reactions without catalysts9-10. In the conversion process, water acts not only as an excellent solvent, but also as a source of hydrogen. It has been reported that CO2 can be reduced into formic acid in the presence of Fe under hydrothermal conditions. However, the yield of formic acid was low, only approximately 16%9, 11. In these decades, the role of Mn, exhibiting extraordinary appealing coordination chemistry,12 for the synthesis of catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation and F-T synthesis has been paid much attentions13-14. So far, there was no research about conversion of CO2 under hydrothermal conditions with Mn. Herein, we present a strategy for reducing CO2 under hydrothermal conditions with Mn.In this study, the conversion of CO2 into formic acid with Mn was investigated.
