In this study, CO2 was successfully converted into formic acid and acetic acid under mild hydrothermal conditions using H2S as a reductant. The initial NaHCO3 amount had a great influence on the formation of formic acid, and the formic acid concentration increased linearly with increasing NaHCO3 content untill 6 mmol. The formic acid concentration can reach 1067 mg/L when the temperature is 300 �C, reaction time is 3 h and content of NaHCO3 is 6 mmol from the experimental results in the paper. More experiments will be done to increase the yield of formic with H2S as a reductant. This hydrothermal conversion of CO2 under mild conditions may provide a promising solution to meet the urgent need of reduction.
