In most reported cases, the POSS-based materials were prepared with POSS as a pendent side group or end group or crosslinking center in hybrid polymers. There have been quite few reports on the synthesis of POSS-containing copolymers with POSS in the main chains by the use of difunctional POSS monomers. This is because the efficient synthesis of difunctional POSS monomers is still a challenging task. In this work, we synthesized 3,13-diaminopropyloctaphenyl double-decker silsesquioxane and used it as the amino resource to synthesize organic-inorganic polybenzoxazine with DDSQ in the main chain. The results of FTIR, 1H NMR and GPC indicate that PBA-diapposs was successfully obtained with a high-molecular-weight and low polydispersity. The curing behavior of PBA-diapposs was studied by DSC. TGA suggested that the novel polybenzoxazine displayed enhanced thermal stability; in particular, the weight loss temperature of 5% in nitrogen for PBA-diapposs was over 500?, which was increased by almost 190 ? than that of traditional polybenzoxazine. The char yield even reached 80% at 1000 ?. With the inclusion of DDSQ in the main chains, the novel polybenzoxazine displayed improved surface hydrophobicity.  Synthesis of PBA-diapposs
