The business case for diversity has been effectively made over the last decade. What technical organizations face today is the challenge of creating a diverse workforce in the face of declining participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and diminishing numbers of people entering trades and crafts. These pressure points are exaggerated in the Texas Ship Channel which is seeing significant expansion. As a result, businesses are compelled to revisit the definition of qualified candidates to expand the applicant pool while maintaining quality in the sourcing and hiring process.
