Melia azedarachis a species that has raised considerable scientific interest in the recent years due to the biological activities of its extracts against agronomical and human pathogens. Chemical characterisation is essential for the delineation of the biological activity while little is known about the antimycobacterial activity of this species. An analytical method was developed for the rapid and accurate quantification of the methanol extract of the ripe fruits of Melia azedarachpossessing considerable antimycobacterial activity. The chemical characterization of the extract was performed by liquid chromatography quatrupole time of flight mass spectrometry (Q-TOF/MS) in the electrospray ionization (ESI) mode. Different limonoids such as toosendanin, ohchinilode A, ohchinolide B, nimbolinin B and meliatoxin B1 were selectively detected monitoring MS/MS transitions of proton adduct precursor ions. The antimycobacterial activity was studied by the standard method of the double dilution in agar. The activity of the M. azedarach methanol extract against Mycobacterium tuberculosis was found of 64 �g/mL after 28 days of incubation.
