Telomerase is a reverse transcriptase enzyme that adds a specific DNAsequence to the ends of the chromosomes. There are experimental evidences thattelomerase is overly expressed in almost 90% of human cancers but not in normalsomatic cells. This selective activity of telomerase in cancer cells makes it apotential therapeutic target to treat cancer disease.Acridine derivatives are one of the oldest and most successful classes of bioactiveagents. Recent studies showed that some of the acridine derivatives such asamsacrine and nitracrine have the anticancer activity. Here in we are presentingthe synthesis of NAM (N-Acridyl Maleimide), NAS (N-Acridyl Succinimide), and NAP (N-AcridylPhthalimide) derivatives as anticancer drugs.
