Natural products continue to play a pivotal role in the discovery of modern therapeutic agents. Although studies in synthetic organic chemistry and natural product biosynthesis are individually important, studies that synergize these areas may lead to rapid advances in the understanding and manipulation of biosynthetic pathways.  In this presentation, our collaborative efforts pertaining to the biosynthesis of antifungal natural products, such as echinocandin B and the communesins, will be presented.
