The concerns of excess phosphorus in natural waters continue to grow worldwide. The University Findlay has documented this phenomenon locally during three service-learning projects engaging Findlay Middle and High School students, and University of Findlay students to work with its faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students.  Samples from the Blanchard Rivers and its tributaries were collected and analyzed in support of the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership. Within the scope of the NSF-funded Service Learning Project GLISTEN and related efforts, since 2010, we documented three sites that consistently exceeded �advisory� limits. These data persuade us to seek prevention and retention strategies to improve water quality. The Great Lakes Joint Commission is funding monitoring and remedial actions.  The task of linking local universities in collaboration with local business sponsors to further elucidate sources and possible explanations of elevated phosphorus levels will be discussed.
