In this study zinc nanoparticles (ZNPs) were produced using EEW with sizes on the order of ~120 nm and using epoxides as capping agent. In previous work, ZNPs have been produced by solvent assisted deposition in plasma (SADIP),laser irradiation,electrodeposition,microwave plasmaand hydrothermal synthesis.Previously we showed epoxides as better capping agents for Al NPs. The polymer cap produced can stabilize the metal without sacrificing energy density of the NP core.  Here, we use polymerization initiation by electron-rich metallic nanoparticles (PIERMEN) is used as a capping techniques for the reactive ZNP cores immediately after production. Epoxide caps initiated polymerization on the surface of the NPs to form a protective polyether cap. ZNPs were characterized using STEM, DLS, ATR-FTIR, PXRD, and wet chemical methods.
