The effect of catalyst loading, calcination and reaction temperature on glycerol steam reforming and coke formation over Ni supported on alumina was investigated. Catalysts were prepared by wet impregnation, calcined at different temperatures ranging between 300-900 oC. The XRD results showed both NiO and NiAl2O4 peaks and the BET showed decrease surface area with increase in catalyst loading. Temperature programmed oxidation performed on the spent catalyst showed different types of carbon depending upon catalyst calcination temperature and reaction condition. The catalyst performance on the steam reforming of glycerol revealed that product selectivity and glycerol conversion increase with increase in catalyst loading and reaction temperatures but decrease among catalyst prepared at high calcination temperature.
