Traditionally, hand-held instrumentation has been used to study biogeochemical environments. This approach of data collection has been the norm; however, more and more observatory type systems are being utilized to record changes in the environment over time.  This paper will introduce the community to a new line of instrumentation particularly designed for recording calibrated biogeochemical data in a clear, accurate, and precise way.  New instruments such as the AIS DLK-WMO-1 (Web based micro-observatory) will be presented as well as the AIS DLK-70 Web-Pstat, an electrochemical analyzer capable of collecting biogeochemical data such as oxygen, sulfide, iron II, and manganese II simultaneously on a single microelectrode voltammetrically within seconds.
