Exam reflections were used to assess student learning in recent organic chemistry classes. A clear example of the Kruger-Dunning effect was seen in these results. Students that do not perform well on examinations seem to be unaware of their lack of preparation until having completed the examination. Self-assessment of study habits and reasons for getting questions wrong are also explored.
