We synthesized nano crystalline Dachiardite zeolite (DAC) and analyzed the viability of DAC as a catalyst for environmental protection applications e.g. recycling of low density polyethylene (LDPE) into ethylene and other hydrocarbon products. The catalytic cracking of LDPE was investigated using thermal gravimetrical analysis (TGA). Preliminary observations showed that LDPE was catalytically decomposed at much lower temperature i.e. 325oC as compared to its thermal decomposition temperature (425oC). However, an optimal amount of catalyst is required for successive cracking process otherwise catalysis would have occurred through thermal degradation pathways. High surface area (200 m2/g) containing nano- crystalline DAC was synthesized in 24 hours at a temperature of 65 oC. Time duration for the syntheses ranged from 12 hours to 72 hours with an increment of 12 hours at a fixed temperature of 65 oC.
