Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) is a relatively new conducting polymer with a low band gap, high charge mobility, high stability. We used the in-suit synthesis method to construct PEDOT from the monomer of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene in nanoporous of cellulose gels, which were prepared in alkali hydroxide/urea aqueous solution at low temperature. The cellulose-PEDOT composite plastics were obtained by hot-pressing cellulose-PEDOT gels. The results indicated that PEDOT were stability immersed in cellulose matrix, and the composite plastics displayed homogeneous structure and excellent mechanical properties. The electrical conductivity of the composite sheets could be enhanced significantly via doping of acid and increasing the concentration of EDOT monomer. The composite plastics are potential application in the imaging and sensor of electron device.
