Porous materials have emerged as promising scaffolds for the storage of energy related gases, including H2 and CO2. Porous aromatic frameworks (PAF)s are a subset of porous materials that have been shown to combine high gas storage abilities with high thermal and moisture stability. We have developed an oxidative post-synthetic crosslinking scheme for novel hexobenzocoronene based PAFs. The extent of crosslinking is characterized by change in pore size, and how the pore size affects the enthalpy of H2 and CO2 storage in these materials.
