The Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act or 'JOBS Act,' is a law enacted by the Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on April 5, 2012 [1]. The JOBS Act is intended to encourage funding of United States small businesses by easing some securities regulations. The term JOBS Act is also sometimes used informally to refer to just Titles II and III of the legislation, which are the two pending pieces of most importance to much of the crowdfunding and startup community. This talk will outline a real life example of utilizing the JOBS Act for a technology company. New and novel technology faces challenges for acceptance by knowledge workers, especially if it is high end and expensive. Cost-effectiveness sometimes outweighs the total cost, but achieving high volume remains a challenge. An alternative is to offer specialized services to potential customers in situations where an easy alternative is not always available.
