The effect of different feed gas configurations, porosity and thickness of a membrane reactor for the direct epoxidation of propene over a gold-titania catalyst has been analyzed. The importance of hydrogen diffusivity has been studied by varying the reactants feed. The hydrogen efficiency is the key parameter that needs to be optimized to determine the best configuration for PO production over a membrane reactor. Controlling hydrogen diffusion over the catalytic bed leads to less water formation. From experimental data it was also possible to observe the limited effect of oxygen and propylene on hydrogen efficiency.
