Over the past several years the Department of Chemistry at the College of St. Benedict | St. John's University has been engaged in a significant and systematic revision of the chemistry curriculum.  As part of our integration of related chemical topics we have developed a new foundation laboratory course that covers biochemical, inorganic and organic methods.  The new Techniques in Synthesis lab covers standard synthetic lab methods including moisture sensitive and polymerization reactions, synthesis of transition metal complexes, liposome formation and covalent modification, and fluorescent protein biosynthesis.  The synthetic techniques are coupled with modern instrumental methods.
