For the past 15 years, several science departments in the College of Science (CoS) at the University of Arizona have collaborated in the implementation of an innovative approach to the preparation of future secondary school science teachers. This unique program is housed entirely within  the  CoS,  with  all  pedagogy  courses  designed  specifically  for  undergraduate  science majors and taught by science education faculty members with full tenure-line appointments in their respective science departments. The development and implementation of the CoS Teacher Preparation Program has created diverse opportunities for chemistry faculty to directly or indirectly participate in the preparation of prospective chemistry teachers. In this presentation, I will describe and discuss the different strategies that we have used to increase engagement of chemistry faculty in teacher preparation efforts.
