This presentation will overview recent and ongoing efforts by our group and several collaborators regarding versatile coordination modes for monovalent coinage metal complexes, including Au(I), Ag(I), and/or Cu(I) with a broad spectrum of N-donor ligands. Interesting examples include dipole-quadrupole interactions that govern selective removal of toxic small molecules by their chemisorption to macrocyclic trinuclear azolate complexes, multiple coordination geometries in a single embodiment of a mesoporous/superhydrophobic fluorous metal-organic framework (FMOF-1) as well as in a single white-emitting mixed-ligand Ag(I) supramolecular ion-paired complex, and strong cation- or anion-pi interaction involving �metalloaromatic� complexes with electron-rich or electron-poor core, respectively.
