The neurotransmitter dopamine plays an important role in neurological function and there is a need for a highly selective and sensitive method for detection.  An electrochemical approach was taken using a catalyst-free carbon nanotubes (CNTs) modified glassy carbon (GC) electrode and optimized to detect dopamine. The mechanism was studied using cyclic voltammetry and pre-concentration voltammetry. The optical parameters for its detection were determined in a variety of experimental conditions including pH, CNT concentration, and preconcentration time to get the optimal response signal. It was also successfully detected in the presence of interference, ascorbic acid, supporting the selectivity of the method.
