Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were used to investigate the intermolecular interactions between �-blocker drugs atenolol and propranolol and the molecular micelle poly-(sodium undecyl-(L)-leucine-valine) (poly(SULV)).  The molecular micelle studied is used as a chiral selector in capillary electrophoresis. (R) or (S) enantiomers of the �-blockers were docked into one of five poly(SULV) binding pockets. MD simulations were then carried out. Atenolol enantiomers bound preferentially to different poly(SULV) binding sites.  The poly(SULV) binding energies for atenolol enantiomers were similar and intermolecular hydrogen bonds formed away from the poly(SULV) or atenolol chiral centers.  Solvent accessible surface area analyses showed atenolol penetrated into the poly(SULV) core in the preferred binding sites.   Propranolol results were similar with the enantiomers preferring different poly(SULV) pockets.  Propranolol enantiomers, however, had different poly(SULV) binding energies and intermolecular H-bonds formed near the propranolol chiral center.  Finally, a correlation was observed between poly(SULV):propranolol  binding energies and propranolol solvent accessible surface areas.
