In this project we have synthesized 2-mercaptonicotinic acid, 2-mercaptosalicylic acid and  pyridine thiolate complexes of copper, manganese, silver and platinum. Crystal structural data obtained from these reactions will be compared including a possible mechanism of the formation of these compound. Some of these complexes such as silver and copper have been found to display antibacterial properties.
