This work addresses the conversion of carbon dioxide, which is one of sustainable carbon sources, to energy storage materials at mild conditions. In specific, we will demonstrate the significant improvement of conversion yield of carbon materials by 1) modifying the salt removal process and 2) simultaneously using boron/nitogen precursors and metal hydrides as reduction agents. We will present the possible application of the heteroatom doped porous carbon to the cathode electrode of fuel cell as an oxygen reduction catalyst. Various electrochemical analyses with microscopic investigations will explain the origin of the electrocatalytic activity.
