There has been huge interest in use of silver nanoparticle-based technologies for water and wastewater treatment in recent years ranging from both zero valent silver-mediated disinfection of drinking water to silver halide semiconductor-based advanced oxidation processes. These technologies will be described and their potential and pitfalls for water treatment discussed.
