High Mobility Field Effect Transistors Fabricated with Macroscopic Aligned Semiconducting PolymersHsin-Rong Tseng, Hung Phan, Chan Luo, Ming Wang, Louis A. Perez, Lei Ying, Edward J. HeegerAbstract: Field-effect transistors  fabricated from semiconducting conjugated polymers are strong candidates for  flexible and low-cost electronic applications. Here, we demonstrate that the  mobility  of regioregularpoly[4-(4,4-dihexadecyl-4H-cyclopenta[1,2-b:5,4-b']dithiophen-2-yl)-alt-[1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-c]pyridine] (PCDTPT)  can be significantly improved by substrate nano-structuring andcontrolled  evaporation. A record hole mobility for a �plastic electronics� transistor,  as high as 23.7 cm2/Vs, is achieved; and it is insensitive to molecular weight. Carriers transport primarily along the conjugated backbone with  occasional hopping to neighboring chains through �-�stacking, as proved by  temperature-dependent mobility, AFM and GIWAXS characterization.
