The basic method of 2D IR Vibrational Echo Spectroscopy is discussed.  The pulse sequence and the experimental observables are presented in the context of a simple molecular system.  The vibrational echo chemical exchange method is illustrated and several examples are presented.  The examples include the time dependence of solute-solvent complex formation, isomerization around a carbon-carbon single bond, protein structural substate interconversion, and water-ion hydrogen bond switching.  The concept of spectral diffusion is explicated.  Measurements of spectral diffusion of water molecules, which involve hydrogen bond dynamics, are presented and compared to simulations.  In addition, measurements of spectral diffusion in the interior of phospholipid model membranes and in room temperature ionic liquids are briefly described.
