C-N bonds are prevalent in biologically active molecules and many organic materials. One way to form these bonds efficiently are transition metal catalyzed C-H aminations that employ electrophilic amination reagents. However, many of the available amination reagents are explosive, waste-intensive, not available in bulk quantities, or the protecting group on the nitrogen atom requires extreme conditions to be removed after the desired C-N bond forming reaction. In this talk, we will present the synthesis of novel, readily available amination reagents and their applications in catalytic C-H aminations.
