Inorganic graphene-like materials, especially for the atomic-thickness ultrathin nanosheets, are regarded as a typical quasi-two-dimensional nanostructure system. Graphene-like materials entail more controllable structural parameters for regulating their electronic structure that is vital for energy storage devices. Here, we will survey the synthesis and assembly methodologies for some cases of graphene-like materials such as transition-metal chalcogenides and oxides ultrathin nanosheets. The electrical properties of graphene-like materials and their hybrids were systematic investigated. Regulating the electron-electron correlations of the transition metals in transition-metal chalcogenides and oxides within the 2D planar sheet can be a new avenue for controlling the electrical properties of graphene-like materials. The assembled thin films of ultrathin nanosheets with the synergic benefits of enhanced the electrical conductivity and the higher electrochemical activity show the promising signs for the energy storage applications such as the supercapacitors.
