Compounds of barium cholorapatite and hydroxylapatite were synthesized and analyzed by powder x-ray diffraction to determine their physical proprieties and evaluate the phases for possible environmental application. A synthesis was performed for barium iodoapaite using barium hydroxylapatite and a concentrated solution of iodide to make the reaction more thermodynamically favorable. Powder X-ray diffraction was performed but a match was not found in the ICCD database. To further characterize the crystal, elemental analysis was performed on the barium iodoapatite via cyclic voltammetry to confirm the presence of iodine.
