Students in a chemical technology program at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf/Rochester Institute of Technology, have demonstrated an enhanced understanding of climate change-related concepts by using the educational material contained in the new American Chemical Society (ACS) Climate Change Toolkit.  The ACS Climate Change Toolkit is an accessible user-friendly website-based educational tool that was developed to bring general awareness and understanding of climate change concepts to the community. In a case study of deaf and hard-of-hearing sophomores in the LST program, students demonstrated enhanced understanding of climate change concepts after using the ACS Climate Change Toolkit, and even more significantly-so after being involved in active learning activities related to the Toolkit.  Pre-and post- utilization assessments show an improvement in student understanding and a clarification of common misconceptions related to climate change concepts by using the Toolkit- as well as the synergistic effect of adding active learning activities.
