Research in our group is focused on establishing synthetic approaches for the efficient and selective preparation of a wide variety of architecturally challenging nitrogen-containing heterocycles by making use of gold-catalyzed alkyne cycloisomerization chemistry.1 The methodologies are developed so that they operationally straightforward and of potential use in natural products and functional materials synthesis. In addition, the synthetic methods are designed so that they follow the principles of atom economy and environmental sustainability under mild reaction conditions.
