Industrially sponsored projects have ranged from small molecule chemistry to fluoropolymer chemistry and have involved the use of anhydrous hydrogen fluorine (aHF), elemental fluorine (F2), and tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), among other reagents.  Examples of small molecule chemistry have included CFC and Halon alternatives, electronic grade gases, alkylation catalysts, as well as intermediates for the agro and pharmaceutical industries, while examples of fluoropolymer chemistry have often focused on high performance lubricants and cation (proton) exchange membranes.  These projects have resulted in improved industrial processes, increased job opportunities for our graduate students, and a number of publications as well as U.S., European, and World patents.  Representative examples of these projects, including the use of statistically designed experiments, will be presented.
