The Mobius� CellReady bioreactor product platform incorporates novel disposable technologies that provide optimal performance for mammalian cell culture.  Here we show the utility of EMD Millipore's 3L and 50L CellReady single use stirred tank bioreactors for the cultivation of adherent mammalian cells on microcarriers.  Cytodex3� and Solohill� collagen coated microcarriers were first tested in a mixing study to assess feasibility of the mixing system under various power per unit volume conditions.  We evaluated the normalized mixing speeds required in the 3L and 50L to achieve a suspension of the microcarriers. In addition we demonstrate that the Mobius� CellReady 3L bioreactors and 50L enable efficient growth of Madin-Darby Canine Kidney Cells (MDCK) a cell line traditionally used in influenza vaccine production. Additionally, we demonstrate that the Mobius� 3L CellReady Bioreactor can also efficiently grow Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells (hMSCs).
