As one of the routes for converting methane to syngas, CO2reforming of methane has attracted the attentions of scientists due to its environmental friendliness, and Ni-based catalysts were often adopted owing for this reaction to their low prices and high initial catalytic activities. However, Ni-based catalysts suffered from carbon deposition which would finally result in catalyst deactivation.In this work, a �-cyclodextrin (abbreviated as CD) modified impregnation method was employed to prepare supported Ni catalysts with ordered mesoporous silica (SBA-15) as a support, and the catalytic performance of prepared Ni/SBA-15-CD catalysts were evaluated in the reaction of CO2 reforming of methane to syngas with a fixed-bed quartz reactor under the conditions of atmospheric pressure, 700 oC, 0.2 g weight of catalysts and GHSV of 1.2�104 mLg-1 h-1. The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were characterized by BET, XRD, TPR, TPO and TEM.The characterization results showed that the addition of �-cyclodextrin into the impregnation solution of Ni precursor and the support didn't change the ordered structure of SBA-15, whereas smaller Ni particles were formed which strengthened the interactions between Ni and SBA-15 and resulted in higher dispersion of Ni on SBA-15.The reaction results revealed that the better dispersed Ni/SBA-15-CD catalysts exhibited higher catalytic activities and stronger abilities to resist carbon deposition in CO2 reforming of methane. Post reaction analysis revealed that, �-cyclodextrin was effective in resisting carbon deposition and maintaining the ordered structure of Ni/SBA-15-CD. It can be concluded that �-cyclodextrin modifying impregnation method was an effective way in improving the dispersion of Ni on supported Ni-based catalysts.Acknowledgemet:  973 Program (2011CB201405); NSFC (21073104).
