Tangential flow filtration (TFF) may be used for a variety of processes, including harvest, concentration and buffer exchange, and an understanding of the permeate flux behavior is essential for efficient process design. Using the stagnant-film model, the permeate flux can be related via the mass-transfer coefficient to the bulk solute concentration.  However, other parameters, such as cross-flow velocity, temperature, and transmembrane pressure, may also have a profound effect on the filtrate flux. Previously, it has been shown that the impact of the cross-flow velocity may be easily incorporated into the stagnant-film model via its direct effect on the mass-transfer coefficient. In this work, we further model the flux behavior of an antibody solution as a function of temperature and the transmembrane pressure. Analogous to the cross-flow velocity, we modeled the effect of temperature via the mass transfer coefficient in the stagnant-film model. Regarding the pressure dependence, several empirical saturation models and a semi-empirical osmotic pressure model were statistically compared.
