Southeastern Oklahoma State University's American Chemical Society Student Members Chapter is constantly involved with chemistry students and the surrounding community, with the goal of spreading the importance and joy of chemistry. The chapter hosts chemical research speakers and graduate school recruiters to give presentations at our university, and arranges for students to tour graduate campuses and attend science meetings in our region. The chapter held a bake sale in the Student Union during National Chemistry Week and gave out NCW stickers, provided a booth on Halloween to promote chemistry by giving away chemistry souvenirs and spooky sweets, and supported local charitable efforts such as canned food drives and raising funds for low-income students. The chapter is performing chemistry demonstrations at schools and a statewide event to help interest minority and rural students in science majors. Other activities include acknowledging active members at graduation, chapter fundraisers, intramural competitions and social activities.
